Explorer 2 And Holes On The Lugs

Hi Members.

I have bought this from PT,

and I have decided to make holes on my replica.

I have :

[*] used a point for steel measures 1 of the Tivoly (http://www.tivoly.fr);

[*] used a dremel with flexible at 9000 turns (yes I make the holes with my hands) ;

[*] used Silicon Grease and water with ice to constantly cool & lubrificate the point;

[*] manually I have cleaned the external holes with a point to the diamond to fall the dribbles;

[*] polished the case.

• For Finishing The Surface When The Scratches Are Deep :
  
  I use these disks with the fingers (not with the dremel) when the scratches are very deep. From the biggest disk up to that thinner so that to make the homogeneous surface.
  Dremel - 411 - 19mm aluminim oxide sanding disc 180 grit coarse - 2615041132
  Dremel - 412 - 19mm aluminim oxide sanding disc 220 grit medium - 2615041232
  Dremel - 413 - 19mm aluminim oxide sanding disc 240 grit fine - 2615041332
  
• For Polish The Surface :
  Dremel - 421 - Polishing Compound - 2615042132
  Dremel - 429 - Felt Wheel - 2615042932
  Dremel - 422 - 9.5 mm Felt Tip - 2615042232
  Dremel - 414 - 13 mm Felt Wheel - 2615041432
  Dremel - 423 - Cloth Wheel - 2615042332
  
• For Sanding The Surface :
  Dremel - 413 - 19mm aluminim oxide sanding disc 240 grit fine - 2615041332
  Always Manually But Moving The Disk In A "Only One" Direction I Produce Dwarfish Scratches... And Polish The Surface To Make The Scratches Homogeneous To The Sight And The Touch (Without Removing Them).

Just curious...why did you drill the holes in the case?

Is this just to achieve a look of an older Explorer II? I believe the cases went "hole-less" in 2003 (someone correct me if I'm wrong here...)

I think you're right. Current one's have no holes.

Simple Because My Rep Now Is Quite Close To This Gen :

Good Dial, Correct Hands, Good Bezel, Good Crown, Good Bracelet and Now Holes On The Lugs...

Indeed... Rolex cases went to solid lugs with the F Serial. So, models prior had lug holes.

Did the change to solid end links happen at the same time as the non-hole case?

The SELs across the line took place during the A and P serial. However, there have been some models prior that had SELs (e.g. 16660, full 18k models, Presidentials, etc).

The Rolex has made a lot of confusion both with the serial numbers and with the models.

Because some models have not been successful and also because to the beginning the registers ofthe numbers was not kept with precision.... historically many products of the Rolex (as to es. ref. 2022, 4500, 4537, the Turn'o'Graph and the same "Pre"Daytona...) derive from commercial failures.
