kent2 Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 I am looking to replace a NDT case's crystal. the lip diameter( the steel rim which the inside of the crystal fits over) is 29.12mm. with some tension then the crystal interior diameter would be around 28.86mm. no luck in figuring out which crystal to use...thanks
Nanuq Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Well, what model watch is this? Given that rehaut diameter you're still looking at potentially several crystal geometries. Like, is it supposed to have a cyclops? Or is it a domed or superdomed model? I've seen a domed crystal mounted to a 1675 and it looked great but it wasn't the original spec.
kent2 Posted September 6, 2009 Author Report Posted September 6, 2009 5508. looking for just a plain tropic
freddy333 Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 I do not know the lens's dimensions, but you need a Tropic 16, which is relatively rare & tends to be expensive.
kent2 Posted September 6, 2009 Author Report Posted September 6, 2009 i had found a source of the gen tropic 16s. fairly priced. but the gen is just too small to go on without turning it down a few thou...
freddy333 Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Regardless of what is inscribed on the case, you may actually have a 6536-sized case (which takes the Tropic 18) instead of a 5508.
Nanuq Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 I have a gen tropic 18 and a gen tropic 16 superdome. I tried to make the 16 fit my 6536 (boy did I try) but it simply would not. Pity, because it has a much nicer dome than the 18 now mounted. Which means, I have a very rare and very expensive tropic 16 I'm not going to use. If anyone's interested...
