DrXenon Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 Hello, I received my Steelfish Superocean today from TrustyTime - I am very impressed with the construction and feel. I am trying to set it, and I assume it's like all my other watches in that you simply pull the [censored] out to the first or second position to set the date/time respectively. On my particular watch, I am unable to pull out this [censored] although I have even tried prying gently with a jeweler's screwdriver. Is there some step I am missing? Is the [censored] merely for decoration and I have to open the back to set it?
DrXenon Posted September 9, 2009 Author Report Posted September 9, 2009 (edited) Have you unscrewed the crown yet? Thanks for the fast reply. Thank you for sharing the secret. Edited September 9, 2009 by DrXenon
Pugwash Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 Nope. The crown is screwed in to make it waterproof. Unscrew it, then pull it out once for date, and another click for the time.
P4GTR Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 Dont forget to screw it back down after your time is set! Also, try to push down and feel the threads line up by screwing backwards before you tighten it down, to prevent cross threading.
DrXenon Posted September 9, 2009 Author Report Posted September 9, 2009 Thanks very much for the information, all. One more thing: can I wind the spring by hand with the crown?
andreww Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 Thanks very much for the information, all. One more thing: can I wind the spring by hand with the crown? You should only slowly hand wind to get the watch started if needed. Not a good idea to do it any more than that.

You'll notice that "crown" doesn't get censored but "K.N.O.B." does !!
wraithride Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 hehe, I was wondering what word was getting censored. Interesting choice WR
