Rolex Explorer II Black Dial

Dear all,

Your opinion is needed here.

I was about to post this dial for sale as I got myself a Noob Explorer II with a white dial and decided to forget about building a franken one.

Genuine Rolex Explorer II Dial

This dial has been sold to me as genuine by a long term member of this community.

The dial print looks way too good to be fake... I would say that this dial is genuine. But the 12'o'clock marker looks wrong. Or then it's the picture. Weird.

Thanks BT.

Your opinion is important in such matters ;)

Under a loupe, the print is really crispy and so is the lume material.

I never saw a rep dial with such a feel for sure.

The 12 "o" clock marker seems to be "sligthly" damaged in fact.

My concern was more about the placement of the text.

But, as we all know, there are always various versions @Rolex :wounded1:

Hard to categorise a dial as gen or rep based on placement of the text only.

Nothing wrong with the placement.

Check here and compare it. All looks exactly similar. Placement of OYSTER PERPETUAL DATE (related to ROLEX), etc.

If the '12 marker is damaged it explains it. It looks much better in that new photo.

The dial is definitely genuine, imho.

Definitely genuine, never mind the dial text, several features on the backside confirm it.

Most likely an RSC replacement, or even a 'second'/reject (on account of the poor QC on the 12 o'clock index).

Thanks Doc

Agreed. Possible a service dial or 2nd as Doc said. Genuine for sure

Thanks Dluddy.

Well, it was worth the thread.

I was almost sure that it was NOT 100% gen.

I guess now we all know: RSC replacement dial.

Also, I'm happy for my seller.

Not that he will read this soon but I couldn't believe he was selling an item without having checked it before saying it's genuine.
