redwatch
I have a co-worker who has a gen Rolex 16600 SeaDweller from 1996 and he was commenting today that he wishes the lume still worked. First of all, is that normal for a watch of that age to lose its lume after 13 years? Secondly, should he send it to an RSC for a re-lume (if they even do that), or should he send it to the master in canada? Opinions would be greatly appreciated! ubiquitous
My white dial 16520 has a tritium dial from 1997- Still glows, albeit a little faint. In fact, my original Snowflake dial from the late 70's still glows for that matter...
Member X
Weird... You could argue with him that the aged, genuine effect is something that is sought after by collectors and he could take a gamble that he could sell it for a decent amount in years to come if they go up in price, or he could just get a replacement dial fitted lol
slickdick
I agree with X, leave the original dial alone, either accept that it doesn't glow, or replace it with one that does. stilty
Best option, but probably not the cheapest, is to find a RSC dial and handset. They pop up on the bay and gen forums from time to time. Then he can swap out his original dial and handset with a lumi RSC replacement. He can retain his original parts and offer them as part of a package deal if he decides to sell down the road, or just part out the lumi set. He really can't loose if the swap is done cleanly and professionally. It just may be more than he is willing to invest.
