As long as the crystal is pressed in flatly, the case back is tight and has a greased seal and the crown has the same it should be fine even with out the CG, i have watches with out screw down crowns that i have tested to 100m with out problems. As long as the crown gaurd put some pressure on the crown it will be secure, but get it tested before you swim unless you are brave.

Could someone help me understand how to waterproof a panerai rep? I have experience with rolex as to what to grease but I don't understand how to waterproof the Pam crown.

Thanks for your help.

I am planning to make a tuto about this, including the references for all the gaskets needed.

More later...

However, as the previous message states, normally water resistant is quite good.

If you have the chrono version, then it is quite useless. chronobuttons you cannot get as waterproof as the rest. If you have a non chrono pam, waterproofing like FxrAndy said is great.
