preacher62
This may have already been discussed. Sorry, if it is repetitious. I have a new Swiss 2836 and BK's date wheel overlay. Is there any advantage to removing the "day changing" mechanism or do most of the outfits just install the rep DWO on top of the day wheel? Thanks! jmb
Since you have to do some "fine adjusting" of the overlay position to get the numbers to all fall under the date window correctly I don't see how that would be possible unless the wheel was installed. Even then I've never been able to get one aligned perfectly - but I'm getting better!
Brightight
Totally agree with jmb. I use 30 minute expoxy to glue the overlay on, allows plenty of time for minor adjustments. Just be careful to use very small amounts and don't get any blobs, or any 'strings' of expoxy in the movement!! It is very difficult incidentally to fit the datewheel after the overlay has been applied as the overlay is bigger than the original wheel and covers up the day detent spring which has to be pulled back when fitting the complete DW. preacher62
Thanks to both of you for your replies. I use some adhesive that sticks like crazy but never gets completely hard. You can always remove it with a razor blade. I'll just leave the day wheel in place. Thanks, again! Mike
jmb
You want to have something that takes a few minutes to actually "stick" as you need a little time to position/align the overlay. It also needs to not be real thick or the overlay might rub on the back of the dial and hang up when flipping to the next day...
preacher62
Good tip. BTW...at the top is was talking about the day wheel...not the date wheel. I would not remove it. Thanks for help. MT
Brightight
Ah, we didn't read the question properly Personally I would remove the day wheel, there is a little clip in the centre, but none of the mechanism which is sort of integral with the date change stuff. jmb
Oh, yeah, Bright is right (hey, that rhymes!)if something isn't needed (and is easy to delete) no sense in keeping it around waiting to cause you problems!
highoeyazmuhudee
I use some 3M scrapbooking double sided tape. works for me and easy to remove if you want it to be removed but wont come off if you dont want it to come off.
