concepta
116710 GMTIIC ..can a gen dial be fitted? Anybody tried??
alligoat
I doubt anyone has tried mainly because it's too new a model. But the good news is, things have been getting better over the last 2-3 years. It used to big that rep dials were about 1mm bigger than gen dials. And a gen dial was too small for the rep case. But lately things have gotten closer to gen sizes- for subs we're even to the point where gen parts can be used. Maybe if someone has a GMTIIC rep, they could uncase it and measure the dial for you and then you could compare w/ the gen dial. The other good news is that date windows are in the correct position more often these days.

elepaolo
Buddy, I'd keep the rep dial. It's one of the few rep dial that can't be distinguished from the gen (I know what I mean, believe me). I don't know if anybody ever had the chance to compare a GMTIIc rep with a gen (I did it): they are virtually undistinguishable, the only tell are the well known slight differences like the colour of the numbers in the bezel and the AR on cyclops. elepaolo
...but it is still a rep ;-) Yes mate, but even with a gen dial it's still a rep ... . If you want it to be perfect, look for a gen crystal instead.

elepaolo
Sometimes a gen crystal pops up on TZ or on the Bay. Never seen a gen dial, unfortunately... Edited November 15, 2009 by elepaolo
