Sir-Lancelot Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I have a few of these. They are very nice. Thick. IMO they are a great value for the money. when you get them, they are very stiff. I twist them side to side to crease the leather, then I wipe them with a wet rag, them work some baseball glove oil into them. The dark carrot brown, is one of my favorites. It will darken them up, so dont wet them if you like the color as is. I have done this to many straps, as most of them show up a different color than they appear online.

Sharkbait Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 (edited) If shops even sell baseball glove oil in Australia, I've never seen it Ken Ken: In the US it is marketed as NEATSFOOT OIL. I used it for years on my baseball gloves. It is also used on horse's tack and such. As it comes from the hoves of cattle, you should be able to buy it in Australia. Be advised, however, it does tend to darken tan and brown leather. Edited August 31, 2006 by Sharkbait
Sir-Lancelot Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 It also contains mink oil, so maybe mink oil would darken it. I believe its the water that makes it darker and the oil seals in that color. just my opinion.
