Tag Link Chrono

I just got my Tag Link Chrono from Perfect-Hour.com after reading some stellar reviews and hearing that it's a true "super rep".

Here's a few things that I immediately noticed, and keep in mind I'm far from an expert, this is my first "good" rep.

There's no AR coating on the crystal in spite it being advertised as so.

The dial is missaligned, the second hand when reset to 12:00 isn't centered on the 12:00 marker, and the date window is also a little out of line.

Some of the links on the bracelet grind, I've never handled a gen, so this might be normal.

The crown/stem have a remarkably cheep feel to them, when unscrewed to adjust time there's a lot of play, the crown wobbles around. And when fully screwed in the logo on the crown isn't lined up straight. The play in the crown/stem also makes screwing it back in kind of tricky cause it wants to go in on an angle and cross thread. I was pretty surprised by this because the cheap Submariner rep i bought in an ally in Shanghai for $45 is much better in this regard.

What do you guys think of this? I could let everything else slide but I'm pretty chapped about there being no AR, thats a dead giveaway and false advertising.

I'll post some pictures later when I got time.

I stand corrected on the second remark though, only the date window is misaligned/font is misaligned. The numbers aren't centered, they touch the top of the date window on the top with a large gap on the bottom. The second hand does appear to be centered on the 12:00 marker, my eyes were playing tricks on me, actually I'm going to blame the lack of AR for that mistake lol

I don't know exactly what you got, but I think that Link Chrono is one of the best reps out there.

First I don't think that the real watch has any sort of AR, so from that respect, the watch is accurately reproduced.

Secondly, the hands being slightly misaligned (not resetting to the exact 12:00 spot is an issue of QC (or lack thereof), not one of improper replication. That is also one of the simplest things to fix.

The bracelet I have is nearly perfect, but one thing you should look into is whether the bracelet link inner pins are properly adjusted to the right length. I suggest you disassemble the links that bind and adjust the length of the screw. If it's to long, it will spread the 2 halves apart and they could bind against the other link. Also a bit of oil and working the links back and forth will loosen the links up. Anyway, the Tag Link bracelet is one the best bracelet replications out there.

As for the crown logo not lining up straight when you screw it in, I don't think even the gens do that with any degree of success.

The only issues that I can point out are the date is a bit too far to the right in the date window on 20> numbers. It centers OK on single digits and teens. The other issue is the lume. The gen has lume on the hour and minute hands, as well as the square hour markers on the inner graduated rehaut bezel. The rep only has lume on the hands.

There is also a possible issue with the back. The Link I have is an older model, the Ayrton Senna version. I saw a photo of a gen with the Ayrton Sena signature in the case back, but supposedly some also had the normal case back like this.

Here is a picture of mine.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not really concerned about the crown logo, but the photo they showed had it lined up nice, and my cheap sub rep has it lined up pretty good, so thats just what I was let to expect.

Here's a couple of pictures

with a florescent light shining on it

not the best pic, but you can see the date font isn't centered, and it isn't just the shadow.

a shot comparing the AR to that of a Breitling

I've been informed that the O-ring is inside the case and not one on the outside like the sub. My bad.

Do all asia 7750 movements have a real sloppy feel when you pull the crown out to adjust the time?

That looks super sharp nikki, how much did the work set you back? The factory lume really sucks, I'd like to get that redone and a service, if it's not too expensive.

I must have gotten unlucky on mine, the thing came to a stop while on my wrist! Then again after sitting on my desk for a while waiting to be shipped back, gave it a few good shakes to fire it up, and nothing. Both times I had to give the crown a turn to get it started again, dunno if it was a touch of manual winding or adjusting the time.

The crown is quite wobbly on mine too, come to think on it, so are a few of my Tags!!

I was lucky enough to snag mine from a fellow member on here for a steal!!

I would guess the work, all in, cost him the better part of $300. But the watch looks as gen as you can get with those mods!!

Sixx :bones:
