repgod2 Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 (edited) Noobie here looking for a rep Daytona. Just wondering if your paying a premium with the trusted vendors for the same thing listed on other sites for much cheaper. I have no problem paying more for that trust. Are there other sites that you have used that have good watches? Idolreplicas.com? There are so many. Also what should I look for when looking for a Daytona? Thanks! tomhorn Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 Do some research around the forum. There are many Daytona discussions to read through that will give you a lot of insight into the available options, including building 'frankens'. You'll also learn about the common problems with Daytona reps, like the seconds at six chronograph movements being time bombs. And finally, use trusted dealers listed here only, or buy from a trusted member. You'll have a much better chance at getting a quality product, once you decide which version you want.
freddy333 Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Also what should I look for when looking for a Daytona? Aside from vintage vs modern, there have been numerous versions of the Daytona model since its release in the early 60s. Since you did not indicate a specific model, I would recommend that you do some further research (timezone.com or your local Rolex dealer are good places to start) of gens & then repost your question in a more specific form. In the meantime, read this (you may need to research the locations of some of the sites listed in the article as their web address may have changed).
fakemaster Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 21J to 21J. 7750 to 7750. All the dealer dropship the same stuff. It all goes back to as you said who you 'trust' more.
ezyu2 Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 I'm looking for a Daytona as well, but hearing that they are just not reliable (the replicas that is!) I can't pour my money into one and then see it break 10 months later! It is such a lovely watch though! I will ask my preferred dealer if he sells them.
