Beano
Whilst browsing a number of our suppliers websites this afternoon, I came across this http://puretimewatch.com/index.php?productID=2023 This seems to be the latest (well 12mths out) model of the watch that first got me interested in Rolex (and indeed watches)- the DayDate. My uncle had a gold Gen which he used to let me 'wear' when he came to visit - I was only 8-10 so this thing seemed huge and I could barely lift my arm Anyway.... I came across the DayDate II (slightly bigger case?) and wonder what you guys thought of it I thought it would would be a great dress watch - as all my other watches are very much in the sports category. What do you thing is the best dress watch (please no bling )????
plaifender
Omega Railmaster... Jaeger, A.L Sohne, or Brequet would be my picks for a true dress watch. I like the daydate as well.. but i don't think of it as a true dress watch...

TeeJay
Anyway.... I came across the DayDate II (slightly bigger case?) and wonder what you guys thought of it Personally, I don't like it... I think the fluted bezels look better on a jubilee rather than presidential bracelet, and the dial looks like it should be a 'classic' stick marker dial, rather than modern markers... I think there are much nicer DDs and DJs out there, but, as with everything in this game, it is all a matter of personal taste What do you thing is the best dress watch (please no bling )???? It I could have an ultimate Rolex dress watch, it would probably be a black-dialed vintage Cellini... Another option I would go for, would be the black-dialed 'mystery' DJ, but I'd add a decent leather strap rather than the bracelet... As above though, it's all a matter of personal taste, and that's just my .2c
asciwhite
If they made a decent rep of this one I would think it would be an exellent dress watch. To bad I have found only one rep of it. And its not particulary good in my eyes

I need to do some research. It reminds of a Panerai, but looks more subtle. I like it.. as well Looks like that's four watches on the list - Looks like I'm going to have to brush off the DJ and go out me to justify the need
Jkay
Glashutte Senator Sixties is a well-loved and well-reviewed pure dress watch on this forum. It's also one of the best rep values out there. A true classic and well-executed. reference for the gen RWG photo review of this watch

But the Chrono have wrong subdials and does not look as good as it could.. And its the chrono thats really interesting I think The round case one is great value and beautiful but we need a good one of the Chrono *hint hint to the reppers*

I saw the Cellini Prince at Jareds a while ago and it was stunning. $14,000 for it and they don't make a rep of it but wow.

I've seen a Cellini Prince for $50 on one of the billion questionable rep dealer sites out there, so they do make a rep ... but it's probably crap. Here's the rep. Stainless Steel only, no gold. TeeJay
This is the thing which I think is nice about reps. The one I listed above may be wildly inaccurate to any genuine model made by Rolex, but, it looks like a nice watch in it's own right
