mjmj
Hi I ve been on the bay and Clarks has no auctions up at the moment. I would like to replace my acrylic crystal on the MBW 1680 with a new one. One that has the proper 3x cyclop magnification. I would go and buy a Gen crystal but will that fit on the MBW case. Also what are the wholesaleoutlet acrylic crystals like? Is the cyclop magnification correct? If I can avoid buying a gen crystal and get something for less that looks as good as the Gen, then that would be my first option. I would have liked to have gone the Clarks but have had no luck. So if anyone here has a spare one lying around and would like to sell it to me please let me know cheers MJ
Cats
MJ if you search on ebay for a tropic 127 you can find several options. As far as i'm concerned the difference between the generic and a rep crystal is huge. I've put a gen 127 tropic on my 1680 and i will never put a rep crystal on it again. Try to find the top hat version , the one with with the complete square sides , then your done. By the way it's a so called MBW and it fitted perfectly. panerai153
Cats is correct. The genuine will make all the difference in the world. Genuine insert and crystal would be the first two mods to a 1680 I would do. The "Top Hat' is great, but sometimes hard to find. the replacement crystal has a beveled edge, the only difference. They come up for sale around here on occasion. Another place to look is the genuine Rolex sales forums.

Cats
This ain't a top hat but it still is a gen tropic 127 The top hat crystal shows a straight angle between the sides and the face of the crystal A gen crsytal is also clearer then a rep crystal This must have convinced you to buy a gen crystal. By the way if you find 2 top hats shoot me a PM Carpe Diem Cats

I ve just picked up a MBW Red Sub and want to upgrade the crystal myself and was looking at options. And I have to agree that nothing beats a gen crystal and insert. Thanks for the input and I shall buy a gen one. Much appreciated
