dluddy Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 Good for A Series on Top is EL and Bottom is Gen
Drulee Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 How do we play "the case game"? EDIT: Now I know
HArwood22 Posted March 6, 2010 Author Report Posted March 6, 2010 one is gen one is EL can you tell what one.
PeteM Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Take the plunge and say top one in first pic is gen (one with black stitch strap)
Drulee Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Top EL, bottom gen (gen bezels have a more rounded edge).
jchurch Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 I am also going bottom one as a genuine. looks on the corners but I don't really know for sure.
Drulee Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Like this? Was the pic directed at me? If so, like what?
Watchmeister Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 I guess top one is gen. I focus on lugs and what I call "shoulder droop" or case profile as it approaches the corners/lugs. They are both excellent cases though.
w0lf Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Bottom is gen, the one on ammo strap. The other with a gen strap is Agus/EL/HR/Homer ultimate. Actually, even if if you don't know cases the crystal gives away the gen as well.
hackR Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 i'm thinking the bottom is the rep case...there appears to be a gap between the bezel and case on the bottom case ( the one with the ammo strap with white stitching)...i have a case with this gap - it's kinda a recess that you could slip a knife in to remove the bezel...if there's not a recess, then i haven't a clue... R-

R- All gen bezels, and only a few reps, have this knife notch. I think that the bottoms a gen because of the more rounded edges of the bezel (as mentioned by Drulee), the bezel notch, and the sharper edges on the lugs.
tanya Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 one was made in a Temple street apartment One was made in Swizerland

Actually, even if if you don't know cases the crystal gives away the gen as well. I gotta correct myself. I think Wolf and Avitt have this one right. So much for my powers of observation. I am wearing a gen as I write this. Where is that notch when you need it?
kbiz Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 bottom is gen top EL... though the EL looks a little funny to me... lug edge is always any easy tell for Gen... crisp and flat with a much sharper edge.
Drulee Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 I think Wolf and Avitt have this one right. What am I, chopped liver?
Watchmeister Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 What am I, chopped liver? No, but fair point. Kbiz- PM me on Wednesday when I am back in the office and I can review what I got on the dials you are looking for.
deanr Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 The straightness of the surfaces and polish job say it all, bottom is gen, who cares what the top is its obvious a bunch of flaws have been polished over and its not something expected from a swiss watch
HArwood22 Posted March 7, 2010 Author Report Posted March 7, 2010 YES bottom with Olive army strap is GEN!!!!!! The El(no strap notches between lugs) also has the bezel notch just on the other side
kbiz Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 No, but fair point. Kbiz- PM me on Wednesday when I am back in the office and I can review what I got on the dials you are looking for. Very good news indeed my friend
