My PAM1B, over a year in the making finally done right!

Hi Guys,

I apologize in advance for mediocre pictures, they in no way do justice to this watch. There's a long and boring story behind this PAM1B, suffice it to say this is my Eleanor (and no I'm not referring to the cheesy remake with Nick Cage but the 1974 original). There had been three different cases and dials involved in this project thus far, not to mention a myriad of hands, crowns and casebacks. Today, only the 6497-1 engine remains intact from the original piece I started putting together back in February 2009. I would like to thank The Watchmeister, AL12 and The Ziggmeister & last but not least SpeedyG for making my dream come true! :drinks:

Specs to follow :)

Spectacular! The warm hue of the lume contrasts with the dial so perfectly... Well worth the wait. I would love to have one of your creations, as I am not aware of anyone that knows more about the correct odds & ends than you do. Enjoy and thanks for sharing!

man that is stellar!! I love the level of work and perfection... can you comment on the crystal height?? I can't tell from the pics how much above the bezel the crystal extends...

Well, I believe the crystal is 3.5mm center and just a hair under 3mm at the edge.. It's a known problem with JF cases, if you don't have the original gasket (which I obviously don't :black_eye: )and sometimes even with the original gasket, you get this problem fitting any standard rep or gen sapphire crystal. I believe the original JF crystal & JF gasket is needed for a perfect fit. The problem with this scenario is that JF at some point was shafted by his supplier and got a bunch of tempered glass instead of real corundum crystals. If you do a search for JF crystal gasket you'll see several threads regarding the subject of fitting rep crystal to JF case. I don't think anyone has come up with a 100% solution to this issue and the probability of someone doing this today is rather low due to this case being rarer than a gen PAM case ATM.
