prdubis
Hi, I've bought a $198 vintage GWSD with ETA2846 but after disassembling the bezel, it is not built as gen or MBW. It seems that the bezel is rotating around a retaining clip, and this retaining piece is clipped around the crystal... The bezel is roating really loose :-( Is it possible to change this system and use a gen/aftermarket bezel? thank you! Francois
JoJo35
Anyway you could bend the clip so it holds a little tighter? If you want to bail on your great white and go big time, I've got the perfect drsd case that's fs Cheers, JJ
prdubis
Sorry I made a mistake, it's a 1680...And I will take pics as it will be more clear, I think I did not explain very well! Thank you for your offer, but Domi already has built a very nice GWSD for me
prdubis
There is a nylon gasket around the crystal, and as you can see, a retaining ring inside the bezel...Wow sorry for the size!!!!
alligoat
The problem with these vintage 1680 and 1665's is that they aren't a copy of the gen construction like you say. As JoJo says, maybe you could bend the flat washer that sits in there slightly and tighten up the bezel a little. On my PT1665, I tried to put an aftermarket T-39 on it and then there was no room for the nylon gasket. So then I went to jmb and had him turn a retaining ring. At that point I was back to something that's pretty close to the gen construction. retaining ring holding crystal in place flat washer on top of that bezel snapping down over retaining ring and flat washer the insert is same size as the gen insert, so it snaps/glues into the bezel. jmb
It's a shame this particular factory can't be bothered to toss the old non-conforming rings and make a correct one w/o plastic spacer...
