sander Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 Quite some time I have a gen red dial with tachyring laying around and today I decided to build me another AP. I used a sec @ 12 movement and case and modded it so that it fits the gen dial and tachyring. I'm not sure about the red but at least it's something you don't see everyday Cheers!
FxrAndy Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 well built, looks gen to me, what does the gen watch with that gen dial look like
sander Posted May 30, 2010 Author Report Posted May 30, 2010 well built, looks gen to me, what does the gen watch with that gen dial look like Like this. I like the ss bezel better but doesn't have a spare one left at the moment. Will change it later.
miagi Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 gotta admit that your combo looks cooler.. black rubber suits the red more than ss
OSRep Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 I think the red is for wearing whilst taking your ferrari out on the weekend Not an everyday wearer.....I prefer SS bezel too....I do love that style dial though. Thanks for sharing Sander.....
indyberetta Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 What kind of mods did you have to do to the case? Any mods to the movement? Looks like the date wheel is spot on!
HauteHippie Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 Wow, that's not just red.... That's RED ! ! ! Definitely unique and an eye catcher!
redwatch Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 No chief, it's not just RED, its Looks great Sander! I like the dial a lot!
MADRED7 Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 I really do like it....great work there. It sounds you just decided on the weekend "lets build a Franken" and just did it. But I know it was way more work than we can imagine. Congrats If you have any chance, try to put that dial/tachy in the old-style case....I have a wonderful NOS original AP ROO red calf strap that was delivered with that gen AP some years ago and matches the dial perfectly. Cheers Theo
sander Posted May 31, 2010 Author Report Posted May 31, 2010 Thanks for the comments guys! It's not a daily beater but for once in a while it's a funny watch. What kind of mods did you have to do to the case? Any mods to the movement? Looks like the date wheel is spot on! Since the gen tachyring is lower than the rep, I had to create a 1,25mm shim to lift the tachyring from the case. For the movement mods you can look here I really do like it....great work there. It sounds you just decided on the weekend "lets build a Franken" and just did it. But I know it was way more work than we can imagine. Cheers Theo Well.... it was actually a rainy sunday afternoon project Unfortunately the old-style case will not fit the sec @ 12 movement.
Guest Sql_pl Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 Maybe you can get a sec@12 eod and try to get rid of pvd?
sander Posted May 31, 2010 Author Report Posted May 31, 2010 Maybe you can get a sec@12 eod and try to get rid of pvd? Yes, I
Katerchen Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 Nice one S! We need more "fresh" looking franken AP ROOs Cheers! George
Defender110 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 that DW lines up perfectly. must have a gen LWO movement as well w/ case mods for the fitment. not just a gen dial installation
HauteHippie Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Catching this thread late, but hilariously, I saw one of these yesterday! It definitely caught my eye. EDIT: OK, looking back, it seems I've already commented in this thread. Heh, well, I guess my thoughts haven't changed.
