Hairspring Guards

Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me what calibers used a hairspring guard? I have been offered a movement with a 1570 automatic bridge but it has a hairspring guard. I have looked through my parts listings and see that 1560/1565's came with one but wasn't aware that 1570's did as well. Is this the real deal or is it possible that the movement is a 1565 with a 1570 auto bridge? Thanks in advance!!!!!

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same thing. I did a quick google search for 1570 and balance guard and found a link. It has a movement marked 1570 with the balance guard, but who knows if it is reliable. Doing some more looking, it looks like there is a hole in the same spot of the mainplate in all of the 1570's I looked at. I don't know if it is the same size or coincidence. I am hoping that it is a 1570 with added balance guard. They are taking it to a watchmaker to have the rate verified. Thanks again!!!

I am trying to figure this one out until I can hear back about the rate. Does anyone know if a 1560/65 hacks? I was reading on the net that the 1560/65 was used until about 1967. Does this seem correct. Also, didn't the hack mechanism come out in the early 70's? The movement in question does indeed hack, so I am even more confused. I am hoping to hear about the rate tomorrow and will post the answer. Thanks and sorry for the ramble.
