kasigi
For the last couple of years I've been wearing this as my daily wear almost exclusively. It's one of the original Swiss movement SOSF 'super' reps and I love it. Unfortunately the clasp has broken and I don't seem to be able to fix it. Does anyone know where I can pick up a good replacement clasp? I'm in the UK and haven't been keeping up to date with the rep scene so I really don't know who/what would be a good place to start asking around so I figured it was worth coming back here for advice. Any suggestions?
szvwj
What, exactly, broke (a picture would be useful)? Depending on what it is, it might not be too difficult to repair.
FxrAndy
Only hard part there would be the hinge in the middle ans i am sure any comptent watchsmith could fix that, post a photo of where it is broken

kasigi
I haven't got it here right now so I can't post a picture, but the bar which holds the flip lock has dropped out - I've found the bar and the two little tiny washers but I can't get hold of a screw (if indeed it is a screw) to put in the other side to hold it in place. I've been to two local watchmakers, one glanced at it and said that he can't do it, the other one spent some time looking at it including saying "is it real?"..... *pause as he looked at the case back* ...."ahh, yes it is (!!!) He had a good look for a suitable screw and then suggested I take it to an AD. There are no other watchmakers nearby, it's all very well to suggest going to see one but there literally are none that I'd trust apart from the two I tried. The one other nearby made a significant mess of my old vintage Seiko diver when I took it into him for repair and I won't be going there again. So all it actually needs is the teensy screw that holds the bar through the flip-lock in place, that's if it is a screw. From the reaction I'd had, I wondered if it might simply be easier to replace the whole clasp. Thanks
FxrAndy
Ok can any one help a bro out in Europe, i have just looked on my parts box and the only brietling clasp i have has a rivet and is off a cheep and nasty
kasigi
My good lady just got home, she thought she might know somewhere that could help but they were no good. I've got a couple of pictures. First, here's the side with the screw head showing (I've not tried to undo this, it could be for show but it looks like a screw head to me) And here's the other side where it's gone (sorry, this is out of focus but it shows what's missing). Hope that makes it clearer. The closeup makes that hole look huge but it's about 1mm diameter. Edited September 13, 2010 by kasigi
szvwj
The piece you're talking about (on all of my clasps), is a pressed together piece (no screws). I think it's called a pressure bar (at Cousins UK: http://www.cousinsuk.com/catalog/10/0/1998/4049.aspx#select) or a rivet pin (Ofrei: http://www.ofrei.com/page478.html). kasigi
Well well, yes, that looks like it could be it, thanks. I just need to make sure I get the diameter right, I don't have a micrometer to measure but I think that it's a 1mm tube.
kasigi
I've been looking around and have found some pictures where these definitely appear to have screw heads as per this: So is this actually a pressure bar or is a threaded bar ? Anyone got one of these who can take a close look?

Any suggestions? PM me. I have a few of these bracelets (brushed steel) from when I bought 2 SOSF's from Andrew and put them on rubber and leather. I have 1 blue dial, 1 white dial. I think i can dig up the bracelets for you and send you either the whole thing, or clasp only. Let me know if you found a place, otherwise i'm happy to help. BTW, i saw the link you posted, those lume dots get a 10 out of 10 for me. My lume dots look NOTHING like that , but also the blue face shows more mistakes, and the white face is more forgiving...but even on my white face, when you look closely, i can see the lume dot drip out of the center rings . kasigi
I ended up buying the set of tubes/pins from Cousins and have just fitted one, it's perfect. Now I have 59 of them in assorted sizes sitting in my box which will probably never get used! I'm just pleased it's fixed so thanks to all those who helped.
