nleap
Hey there fellow Pam lovers! I just ordered a Pam 251 with the new movement from Joshua and have been wearing it for about a week and I have noticed that the power reserve is really low. I have been wearing the watch all day everyday and it runs out after a few days and I have to wind it again manually. Its almost as if the rotor is not charging the watch like it should. has anybody else had this problem with this batch of watches or with other watches in the past? And what did you do to fix it? w0lf
Perhaps a movement service would cure this ailment? I'll let the more knowledgeable chime in.
Polynomial
... it runs out after a few days and I have to wind it again manually A few days is a pretty good PR for an Asian movement, were you expecting it to run for a few weeks after you stop wearing it? RWG Technical
It only has a 36 hour reserve, sounds like it's working fine...
nleap
I think that 36 hours is fine as far as power reserve is concerned. What I am worried about is that after a full wind and wearing it the watch should not need to be rewound, unless you leave it for 36 hours and it dies again. Does that make sense? Mickey Padge
I get what you mean, you are wearing the watch each day and it still runs down and stops, which it shouldn't do. It should run down and stop on a full charge after 36 to 42 hours, after being set down and not worn...... There is something wrong with your watch, sorry
nleap
that sucks... I am winding it every other day to keep it going... I can tell that its going to die because it starts loosing time. Would cleaning up and servicing and lubing up the movement fix it?
Mickey Padge
Can you feel the rotor spin inside the case? It could be a simple fix, where you just need to reattach the auto winding rotor to the movement. There is a little tiny screw that holds the rotor bearing in to place
801run
It can also be the rotor is stuck on some dirt, it can help to remove it and try to blow it clean. Hi Mickey! You bought the 236-K if my memory serves me right? I'm considering the 236-K and the 196-H and I keep changing my mind about which to get all the time. Are you happy with the 236-K? If you were offered to change it for the 196-H, would you change or would you stick with the 236-K? =)
Mickey Padge
I would stick with the 236, I am not keen on the numerals on the 196, the more simple dial is my preference

When I first started looking at the 196, i found the polished bezel and mid links nice, but the dial is not as nice I think.
Mickey Padge
I also much prefer the brushed steel finish over polished
