vlydog
It appears that in a few months I will have acquired all the parts necessary to assemble my 201/a. I have been pouring over dozens of gen pictures and have found many watches were the dial lume color does not match the hand color. Is it just the natural aging process that has caused this variance in color?
gianton
+1 would like to know that too. Looking at the twins here makes me wondering the same question.
chefcook
the first 50 or so 201a had a black paint on the dial that somehow affected the aging process of the numerals. From what I heard they were turning brown so quickly that Panerai decided to change to another type of paint that keeps the numerals bright white. Those first 201a are now the most sought after 201a. Martyd3
It was the lacquer reacting with the tritium lume, not the paint on the dial. I would make the hands a shade or two lighter than the dial.
oompaloompa
There is a 201 for sale on Paneristi right now that is one of the original 50 with non-matching dial/hands. Great pictures.
