urbanshogun
So a very generous member of RWI is sending me the parts I need to complete my daytona. What is the best way to replace those small fiddly chrono hands? I don't have any specialist equipment. Last time I did it with tweezers and tape, but one of the hands went flying away. thanks for reading
Toadtorrent
You just have to press them down. You could try using a round toothpick cutting the tip off so you have a flatter section at the top to press down. The wood will avoid scratching the hands. urbanshogun
ok thanks. another question i have is; when I remove the hands, is that little cylindrical metal bit supposed to stay on the little spike or on the hand? I ask because those stayed on the spike the first time I took them off, and I just sort of forced the hands on top of them when I went to replace it. jmb
The tube is supposed to stay on the hand. I put a little Rodico on the tip of the small flat tip on my hand presser so the hand will stick to it and it's then very easy to press it onto it's post. Guess i'll just use a bit of masking tape If you have a local "Hardware Store" (i.e. Ace Hardware), go pick up some "Blu Tack", or other putty type adhesives safe for drywall. I have also used the adhesive side of a "Post It Note", to move the hand to the post.
