cochese2323
So I will start of by saying thank you to everyone on this forum for the vast amount of knowledge I have collected doing my homework on this forum for the last couple weeks. This is going to be my first real rep purchase other than some crap I bought on vacation in Mexico a long time ago. I was pretty much set on an 88 and I was going to pick one up from one of our trusted dealers in the $200-250 range (don't have $400+ for an ultimate version). Now this new 111J is out that everyone is talking about and it seems to be a much better value for something in that same price range. I really like the look of the 88, but the 111 isn't ugly by any means. I would be just as happy wearing either on my wrist. Which do you think is a better value at this point? Also, one noob questions, is the "ultimate" version of the 88 worth the $400+ from one of the dealers....seems like I could have one built by someone like DSN for the same price..... maxman
These questions are never easy to answer, not for me anyway. Do you need a GMT funtion?,If so the 88 might be your best bet. If not I would go for the 111,It more accurate with better lume,It's also the newest version. There both nice reps but the 111 Is the better bang for the buck purchase In my opinion, good luck with your decision (ps)Welcome to RWG
cochese2323
No, I don't "need" a GMT function, but does anybody really need a chronograph/GMT/power reserve.....it just looks cool . But the 111 is very good looking as well. Love the sandwich dial. Right now I have a gen Tag Aquaracer chrono that I have had for about 4 years. I wear it pretty much every day and I love it, but time to add to the collection. After seeing how great these reps are, I doubt I would ever pay for a gen again unless I come across some stupid money. But anyway, I kind of had a feeling that the 111 would be a better "bang for the buck". I will just have to get both eventually.
PeteM
The Ultimate is IMHO better than DSNs though both a good reps without doubt. I wouldnt buy one unless I knew I was modding it further as it dont stand up to scrutiny as well. The new 111 is also very good and for your budget I think is perfect the next ones in that budget that arent half bad are the 312. 320 etc But allow for a good quality strap as it really makes a difference to the look and feel dont buy cheap ones!! Or the 288 might be one you could be very confident with. If you go higher in budget then get a 236 or 250 (Same watch different straps/bracelets) These are probably the best reps for your money currently. If your not in a rush then a few more are coming soon and into the new year Good luck mate Let us know what you decide
cochese2323
I have a chrono right now that I have worn for the last few years pretty much every day, so not really looking for another one at this time. The ones that are coming out....what models are they going to be? and what $$$ range are they going to be in? cochese2323
Fair enough, then without saying too much, in your opinion.....would you say these newer models would be worth waiting for?

cochese2323
Sounds like I am going to go ahead and pick one a 111J. I read in a couple other threads that we will get maybe a little better price or it is easier if we just email one of our dealers thru the forum versus going thru their websites. Any advice on who to work with? not sure if you can give suggestions on that stuff......but let me know either way Edited December 8, 2010 by cochese2323
100
Try Mary @ watchinternational@gmail.com. Just send her the picture, description of the watch you want. Her price is usually a little cheaper and also included EMS shipping for free
