Gen insert in a BK transformer bezel

Cats

Recommended Posts

I bought 2 gen Pepsi inserts for my BK GMT II transformer.

The gen insert doesn't sit low enough in the bezel insert.

Looking at the bezel and insert i have 2 options to get right ( just a little lower then the top of the bezel )

Option one : is to sand down the gen insert , but i never did this on a gen insert and a don't know if it is more difficult to do as one a rep insert.

Option two : i could sand down the conical ridge in the bezel a little in order to get the insert in far enough so it sit's just a little lower then the top of the bezel.

What option would you experts choose for ??.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Thank you guys i did a few insert with a sanding paper with great results.

This is one example of a rep insert i did ( coming up for sale for graps , a few people congratulated me for the nice looking gen insert)

I don't know if the gen insert is made of a harder to grind metal as the reps are.

I was just wondering of the approach with the bezel would be easier.

I will give the sanding of the insert a try tonight.

Just the fact that you are working on an insert which is 10 times more expensive as a rep is a little scary.

Thanks for your advise

Just finished the insert with duck taped fingers and the result is super.

The insert is as soft as the rep ones but it's still a scary business an a gen one.

When my GMT II comes back home from a relume job i'll post some pics.

Thanks for all the advise.

Great info here. Does the gen insert snap in or do you have to glue it?

On the GMT II tranformer that i have form BK it did snap in but it wasn't flush with

the top of the bezel. So i sanded down the insert and glued it in ( as i always do with gen inserts in rep bezels )

Could be that it clicks in perfectly on the other ( non transformer ) GMT from BK.

My GMT is away for a relume , i'll post some pictures when it's back.

I have to say that a gen crown is a huge improvement and also the insert will upgrade my GMT enormously

I think it will need a new crystal retainig ring to get it

Back to a gen like clicking bezel. I thought about it but i think

It will bring too much costs

But what size and for what case?? I think I recall BK saying this GMT case won't take any gen parts, except for insert and crown.
