Submariner Movement Identification

Hi,

Can anyone help identify this movement and does anyone know what to replace it with?

I think it is an Asian movement - I purchased this from Eurotimez back in June 2009. It was one of the first Ceramic Subs they were doing (The Eurotimez description was "Rolex Submariner Caramic Bezel 2009 Oversize Case - Noobfactory").

It has recently stopped working and I would like to swap out the movement with either an Asian or Swiss equivalent from cousinsuk.com, but I need to know which part/model number to buy.

Any help would be much appreciated..cheers

Nope - 2824 is a different movement. This is 2836-2 as stated. Take a loupe and look at the engraving in the movement, just below the balance wheel - you will see the number there. Whether its gen or clone, cant say from this pic alone - but others might - probably Asian clone?

There are many applications of the 2836 where the day (sometimes even date) has been removed. The rep submariner is a common one. You do have a 28xx movement but it is impossible to know which one from the back without being able to see the engravings under the balance. The differences between 2824 and 2836 are all on the dial side.

Also looking at the balance jewel retainer spring it appears that you have a clone of the 28xx.

Thanks so much everyone - it is indeed a 2836-2 I can see it engraved on the back as mentioned - now i feel a bit silly!

Its stopped working so i plan to replace it with a an ETA or its clone - I assume its not worth trying to get a clone fixed??. I am searching the forum for a good guide but haven't found anything specific to the 2836 yet - meanwhile, if anyone can point me in the right direction, i would be grateful.

cheers
