Bell&Ross PVD coating any good?

Recommended Posts

I am considering the purchase of my first B&R rep: BR 03-92 with 42mm case (2836 clone). I like the PVD watches but I am not sure about the PVD quality. What's your experience and finally your recommendation? Should I better go for the ss case? Or is the pvd resistant and durable?

BTW: It has been posted several times that the 03-92 rep cases are not accurate (thickness)? I want a 2836 clone version so is there a case out with correct dimensions?

AFAIK the 2836 clone has got the same dimensions like the swiss 2836-2, right? I am asking because I have a swiss mvt. and think it would be a good idea to swap for the clone instead of servicing it.

Thanks for your ideas!

I have a 4 year old 01 quartz and a 2 year old 02 Seagull ETA clone with coating and neither has EVER scratched or discolored in daily wear on the job in a light industrial environment (they hit on metal a lot)

If you're concerned about accuracy, go for the stainless models. The problem with the rep PVD models is that they are brushed, and the genuine carbon models are matte.

Thanks for that advice. But as far as I know the stainless steel cases do need some modification/ brushing/ polishing as well??
