How to remove the seconds post from a 6497?

I have a couple of base projects running but don't have any 6497-1 movements without the seconds post.

Is it hard to remove? How do I do this?

Every watchmaker would cry.....but I just file it down carefully with the pin downwards. So nothing will fall into the movement.

I'm even worse. I let it run out of power and snipped it off with finger nail clippers. There is a tutorial around here someplace showing the correct way, I believe.

I'd say follow that until you get to the seconds hand gear and then reverse it with that part removed.

EDIT: Just read Francisco's tutorial and I see that you do need to keep the "seconds wheel", but that disassembly guide is quite handy to get you to that point of removing the seconds wheel.
