Help me find a good rolex gmt with ceramic

Its a great watch,

Couple things to consider.

#1 If your buying new from a dealer, try for correct Hand Stack (I.E. hour GMT minute second) 99% of what you see will incorrect be GMT Hour minute second. I believe King Watch has the correct hand stack. That being said the incorrect hand stack may be more reliable and more accessible.

#2 movement, Asian 21J is cheap! if it fails you can repalce it for $20. Swiss ETA is awesome you'll want to occasionally service it $100. You will see the decorated blah blah blah movement that's just a waste!!!

Isn't the CHS movement not only the most problematic but the most expensive as well?

Yes, that's exactly what I've read across various forums.

I've also gathered that the best movement for a GMT Rolex is the rather prejudiced 21J.

They say it's most reliable with the GMT hand and if it breaks down you just replace it, very cheaply ofcourse.

However I've been thinking of the Asian clone with the wrong hand stack but now I am totally confused.

I guess I'd just spring for one soon as it's not expensive with either of these two movements.

(serviced) ETA 2836 WHS will be the most reliable. Instead of using the day-complication they just hooked a GMT hand on it, so they didn't really have to improvise a whole lot. The movement just does what it would be doing anyway.

Whatever movement with CHS will be visually accurate but more unreliable. A bunch of gears held together by a paperclip and whatnot. :)

That said, I think By-Tor has several CHS movements that survived very long but he said he doesn't touch the GMT hand at all... His gmtiic review is a nice read although the model that the dealers carry has changed a bit.

Not sure if I'm allowed to post links I'm deciding between one that Sinowatches has and one that trusty time has see bellow and tell which you think I should buy. Andrew from trusty time said for same price he would swap out asia movement for Swiss if I want.

Freddy333 where did you purchase yours?

Andrew, from the 1st run of 50 samples.

They are again available, but now with engraved (as opposed to laser etched & still somewhat misaligned) ROLEXROLEXROLEX around the inner flange (rehaut)

& improved bracelets (again, with proper engraving as opposed to laser etching on the leaves)

(new bracelet @ left, old @ right)

While I believe the improved aesthetics & properly functioning GMT complication (that you should never use after verifying that it works when you receive the watch) are worth the gamble, I have no reason to believe the inherently finicky nature of the chs movement has been addressed or fixed. This is definitely a case of buyer beware.

Freddy333 thanks for your help I'm going to order from Andrew today, should I have the Swiss movement installed at no extra charge or leave the assign movement. I want an all stainless with black face. If there's anyway you could send me a link to the one you would recommend that would be awesome!!!
