HELP! update: i think the mainspring was blocked by sth...now it runs again for the moment. It's hard to find the right speed! still running VERY fast even with the regulator on minus! I have to ask my GF, but i'm not sure she's got a clue about if it was magnetized at one point of her day... any chance i can do this on my own? Or do i need to get it serviced? andreww Posted July 26, 2011 Report Share Posted July 26, 2011 Sounds like the hairspring might be tangled. I don't think that movement is hackable, but if you let the power reserve run down, you can examine the spring with a loupe and check that the coils are all separated. When a watch is running that fast it usually means that the beat has increased significantly, or in other words, the length of the spring has been shortened. It's a simple movement and servicing should not be too expensive. Once cleaned, oiled and regulated, it will make her happy for the next couple of years.
