Steve52 Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 (edited) Hey all you PAM fans! I'm thinking about buying my first PAM (111M from Joshua) and am looking for some advice. I really like the looks of the watch, but I'm afraid of the size and the bling factor. Here's what I have so far: Ebel BTR Ebel Discovery UPO Chrono UPO Franeken (lots of mods, almost a Gen. I LOVE this watch!) IWC InGenuier Thoughts on the 111M? Sounds like it has it all, but is that just hype? I'm thinking of the 111M with rubber strap, but not sure. Opinions? How's the bling factor? I'm a pretty conservative 54 year old, so too much bling will be bad. Do they wear big? I'm thinking it's about the size of my Ebel BTR. I like big, but not TOO big. Thanks all for your time and help! Steve Edited July 31, 2011 by Steve52
Steve52 Posted July 31, 2011 Author Report Posted July 31, 2011 Sorry, I know it's Panerai. New keyboard and now looking stupid! Steve
PeteM Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 Personally mate.... its such an subjective watch to wear that the only way is to get one and see how it feels.... I personally dont find them blingy either on myself or on others.... as for size I think you will find it fine in terms of diameter but possibly thickness might make it feel bigger than it is... However if you buy and you dont like it ... you wont have any problems selling it for near enough what you paid for it if indeed you dont get it all back... given many guys will want to avoid the customs risk etc etc .. I say just get it.... I think you will be pleasantly surprised And as a rep... then its one of the betterPAMs OTB mate
dluddy Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 Given the other watches in your stable I think you will enjoy the 111 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
HauteHippie Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 The problem with buying your first Panerai . . . is that it won't be your last Panerai, and you'll soon feel a whirlwind of addictive desire sweep you away forever more.
PeteM Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 .................., and you'll soon feel a whirlwind of addictive desire sweep you away forever more. Leather and whipped cream had the same effect on me !!!
jynl Posted August 1, 2011 Report Posted August 1, 2011 The problem with buying your first Panerai . . . is that it won't be your last Panerai, and you'll soon feel a whirlwind of addictive desire sweep you away forever more. That is so true...Be prepared for a severe addiction!
Highflyingclive Posted August 5, 2011 Report Posted August 5, 2011 Don't mess around. Buy all the Pams available. Tomorrow. You know it makes sense. Happy timekeeping! Clive
Steve52 Posted August 21, 2011 Author Report Posted August 21, 2011 Well, I may be changing my mind on what model to get. I'm really liking the 188-H now. That white face is talking to me! Perfect Clones Any thoughts on this one before I order? How's the AR etc? Thanks everyone! Steve
PPN Posted August 21, 2011 Report Posted August 21, 2011 If you're already wearing the PO, I wouldn't worry too much about the size of a Panerai.
treadmark501 Posted August 21, 2011 Report Posted August 21, 2011 I must admit... a couple of years ago I didn't really like PAMs, but now I'm addicted & I can't stop God please help my addiction.
PPN Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 I must admit... a couple of years ago I didn't really like PAMs, but now I'm addicted & I can't stop God please help my addiction. I know what you mean. Collecting straps for them can be equally addictive!
Steve52 Posted August 22, 2011 Author Report Posted August 22, 2011 Thanks for all your help. I think I'm going with the 111-H. Can't wait to see how it wears on my wrist. Steve
Applewush Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 if you're worried about bling, have you considered the 177? That said, i don't think the 111 is blingy at all. it's just a polished dress watch and can really up the dressiness factor of an outfit.
Steve52 Posted August 23, 2011 Author Report Posted August 23, 2011 I had not seen the 177. Looked at it last night on Perfect Clones and that may be a good idea for my first PAM. I'm pretty new to PAMs and I'm amazed at how many variates there are. Just looking at the pictures it's hard to discern the differences. Thanks for the suggestion!
permabull Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Both the 111 and 177 are great. For your first PAM I'd go for the 111 or 005. Or the 177 if you like titanium - you'll be pleasantly surprised by how light the watch is in comparison to the steel PAMs, it's a great summer watch. Good luck!
