  1. i'm not too bothered by the display caseback as i hardly ever take off my watch in front of other people. And i'm sure if they wanted to sink money in it, they can replicate the movement details. But i seriously doubt they will.
  2. Like you mentioned, they're both different styles. But i would get the safari first. There are other nicer dive watches, imo. So if i change my mind halfway through...
  3. Since you're a noob, you should be taught the golden rule. "No pics = it didn't happen."
  4. Nice! looks like you really really like Omega
  5. Thank you so much for guiding me to find out who/what Yuki is!! Been puzzling me for a while!
  6. if you're worried about bling, have you considered the 177? That said, i don't think the 111 is blingy at all. it's just a polished dress watch and can really up the dressiness factor of an outfit.
  7. http://www.puretimewatch.com/product/pam115f-lite/ Im thinking about getting this model. Is there a non-lite version around? how is the lite version inferior to a ultimate version? does the same apply for the 111 lite?
  8. I started out just wanted to 'try out' PAMs. I thought i'd just have 1 or 2 and be done with them. Boy, was i wrong!! With so many different options to choose from, any slight variations to minor details makes a watch just as desirable, PreA, PreV, DSN, DW all having their own distinctive features! And that's not even considering strap options! Now i can see how PAM owners end up with so many watches! Curse you, Panerai!
  9. http://www.watcheden.net/panerai-luminor-marina-unitas-movement-swan-neck-pvd-case-with-black-dial-rubber-strap-i-88904-p-1.html http://www.watcheden.net/panerai-luminor-marina-unitas-movement-swan-neck-pvd-case-with-black-dial-leather-strap-i-68171-p-1.html I'm thinking of getting either of these because i want a black watch with sandwich dial and crown guard. Is either of these worth getting? Or at least accurate enough?
  10. I know what you mean, slask. Just the other day my i had a friend who bought a 200$ DKNY watch and everyone was saying how he's willing to spend big bucks on a watch. You should see the reaction over an entry-level TAG. I didn't wish to spoil his good mood by saying he overpaid massively.
  11. I'm about the pull the trigger on a 026k, and (un)fortunately, my gal wants one too! She does not, however, wear her watches on her right hand. So what's the non-Destro equivalent to the 026? And is there a H-factory version? PVD and sandwich dial are the most important features here.
  12. I'm glad there are fakes like these in the market. I refuse to call them reps because they're too original to be replicas of anything. As long as people keep conjuring up images of these when they think 'fake', they're less likely to call out good quality reps.
  13. I'm looking for the following PAM models. Are they repped accurately? PAM 22, 56, 115 or 117. Any of these are sandwich dials? Or if anyone could point me to a lefty PAM rep that has the following features: 1) Polished case 2) seconds indicator (date acceptable) 3) Black hour and minute hands. 4) 40mm to 44mm 5) Sandwich dial I've ruled out the 217, 123, 219 and 26k already.
  14. Mine's from WatchEden. As far as i know, they are the only ones with this version. And to answer a previous question about running seconds, the seconds indicator is at the 6 o'clock position instead of the window @ 9 o'clock.
  15. These 2 are my favourite dressier daily-wear watches: Cartier Ballon Bleu VC Overseas Automatic If he wants something even fancier, how about a JLC Reverso?
  16. AR came with the watch at a 30$ premium. As for better deal, it's hard to say. I paid 148$ for this, shipped while the 7750 would've set me back about 400$. I chose quartz because 1) the gen/7750 seconds indicator is in a small window at the 9 o'clock position. it's hardly noticeable. I love automatics because of the smooth sweeping hands movement, and when you confine that to a small window, it kinda defeats the purpose. and 2) i figured since i've never tried the watch before, and it's not my usual style, i should get the cheaper version first. I did the same with a PAM, so stay tuned for my review!
  17. I just got this in the mail, and OMG!! it's lovely! I'm sure nobody is here to read about me gushing all over my latest favorite watch, so here are the pics. Enjoy!! And of course, the obligatory wristie! Now that i have your interest, there are a few things to note about this watch i bought. It's jap quartz, and therefore chronograph works. There's a 21j version available too, but that comes with a tang buckle instead of deployant, and i think that just screams 'dead giveaway'! I picked the version with AR, because it's always better with AR, no? Calipers work, and i just realized i didn't zero it properly before i shot it. Major Flaws: The 'TAG Heuer' where the strap meets the watch head is written in white whereas the Gen is in black. White datewheel instead of black. Slightly heavier than the gen since it's not made of titanium. It's not PVD either. Not sure if the bezel is supposed to turn, but this one doesn't. Right now, i'm fighting the urge to buy the 7750 version. Somebody stop me!
  18. I think you should consider getting a set of leather straps too. A dress watch is always dressier when it's on leather. That said, nice watch!
  19. whoa! this looks even more drool-worthy than the Rubberclad version! which dealer has this? and which logo is supposed to be gold? the one on the dial?
  20. That looks wonderful! I think i'll get myself one too!
  21. that's a pity! i would have loved to have a minute repeater in my repertoire! Oh well.
  22. That's something i personally like to avoid. The exchange process is tedious! Not to mention being -1 on watch during the process and having to pay shipping. I recently ordered a PAM 217, and got QC pics. And it was a good thing too, because pictured was a PAM 127! Having been able to sort this out before the watch was shipped/received saved tons of hassle in the back & forth that's sure to ensue. Especially since the dealer i bought from is not known for being a great communicator. My personal experience with exchanges have been quite bad. Once, i got a quartz instead of an the automatic i ordered and immediately emailed the dealer. It took a whole week & a half of back and forth where he kept doubting that i got a quartz and kept asking for pictures of the movement. As if i had something to gain by making false claims. So, i guess the point i'm trying to make it, QC pics (& even vids) are necessary if dealer does not qc the items before sending it out. i don't mind getting just the tracking details as long as i can be sure i will get the watch i ordered.
