Photoluminescent Super-LumiNova® is a non-radioactive, high performance afterglow pigment, specially designed for high class watch applications. These phosphorescent pigments work like light batteries, which are charged by daylight or artifical light to glow in the dark for many hours, depending on the strength of activation / excitation and the size of the markings. There are no restrictions to the use of this nontoxic pigments. These pigments operate like a light battery. After sufficient activation by sunlight or artificial light, they glow in the dark for many hours. Larger markings are visible for the whole night. This activation and subsequent light emission process can be repeated again and again, and the material does not suffer any ageing. My comments: Note that the brightness of the light used to charge the SL and the size of the SL markings you have, will determine how bright it glows. If you have a PAM 036 with big markers, it will glow much brighter and longer than a Rolex Submariner, due to the size of the markings and amount of lume applied. Also note that the SL does NOT suffer any ageing, unlike Tritium which ages and looses it’s glow, SL is the same forever… Great news for watch owners, not so good for repeat customers…if your in the lume application business that is... I now can rationalize that 187 7753 since I will be saving thousands of dollars which I expected to spend 5-7 years from now. If I present value that expenditure I will bet it equals next month's cost on the 7753 187. At least that is what I will tell my wife.
