As the title says, I have applied a fix that will allow you to use animated avatars again. Please re-upload/change your avatar/photo for this to take effect.

The avatars used to be rectangular, but now they are square. I do not remember the old dimensions, but the new avatars get resized to 90x90px. So, for optimal quality, you need to make your avatar 90x90px, otherwise the system will resize/reshape whatever you have to that size, which can cause distortions of the image.

If you right-click any avatar on a forum page & select View Image Info (or similar, depending on your browser), you will see that, regardless of the pic's original size, the forum software scales the pic down to 90x90px.

Hmm...apparently there are still some new settings I haven't discovered. I'll have a look at the avatar sizes.

Avatar appearing on profile page is not the one that appears in posts. Please help.

vlydog - It should be the same pic, but just resized (smaller) in the forums. If the pic is actually different, then I would upload the pic to your profile again & then flush your browser's cache to be sure your browser is displaying the newly upped pic in the forums.
