redwatch Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 So I finally broke down and bought myself a Watch Timer. I ended up going with the Bryan Mumford Microset Watch Timer Pro. It comes with a fantastic clamping watch sensor and a software interface for windows. I resurrected an ancient Dell Laptop that I had lying around and it's running like a champ. I don't know how I managed to get anywhere before having this. It is so helpful and informative! Here's a few pics. I was fortunate enough to have Nanuq's famous MBK DRSD in house and so it became my first test subject. When I started off the watch (using a 2836-2) was running at around +26sec/day. I dismantled the watch to repair the seconds hand pinion (it had remnants of an old seconds hand tube stuck on it). Reassembled the movement, got the date wheel remounted and set off to test it again. Still running at +26sec/day. While running in Paper tape mode, slowly adjusted the regulator screw to slow it down. After some slight adjustments (and we are talking minor here) got the movement running at +1.6sec/day 1

Nanuq Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 And a huge THANKS to Red for doing this for me! However, when asked I will disavow all knowledge of how that seconds hand was broken completely off my movement. Or where the seconds hand actually went.........
highoeyazmuhudee Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 any experience with the ebay special? the MTG 1000 priced @ $299 or so
redwatch Posted September 16, 2011 Author Report Posted September 16, 2011 I'm pretty sure db2 has an MTG1000. I am not familiar with them. I also know offshore is going to be selling the TYMC timers (which the MTG is a knock off of). Supposedly TYMC has much better customer service and I have heard varied reports about the reliability of the MTG machines.
