Removing Lume From Dial

What do you guys use to remove Lume from the dial of a watch without removing any of the details on the dial base?

I carefully apply acetone to the lume using a toothpick. And once it is soft, I use another toothpick to dig our the lume. It's tedious, but it works for me. I like acetone because it evaporates fairly quick and is not too aggressive (although it will remove paint on most Rolex dials without much effort).

even on a sandwhich dial you should remove old lume as you cant apply as much new lume without making it too thick to reassemble

the whole reason you're reluming is that the old lume is not good enough so why not use the full amount of space you have by getting rid of the old bad stuff
