Mills Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 I thought I'd share my QC pics of my recently purchased 005 from Trusty Time just in case any of you are interested in purchasing the same. I've already said yes so it is on its way over. Any failings you find are for me to bear rather than Andrew :-) I'm hoping that I made the right decision going with the Noob version of the 005 rather than the H factory. The movement sold it to me but the GC is the thing that makes me doubt my decision. I'm sure it'll be lovely though. BTW as always, Andrew's service was excellent. 1

Unfortunately the Noob versions have a bigger gap than the H version. I went with the Noob though as it has the high beat version of the 6497. If it really does start to grate on me, I could always search out a replacement. Interested to see how it looks in the flesh rather than under the microscope. Speaking of modding, anyone successfully modded one of these to close the gap? Looking at other Pams I have, I have no idea how I could do it but necessity is the mother of invention. Todos los cristales Rep tienen esa distorsión ya que solo son cristal mineral con una película de cuarzo en su superficie que dan esa dureza aparente, Los cristales genuinos son construidos sobre la base del corindón, un zafiro de alta calidad y transparencia y con un mínimo de distorsión. Si alguien pueda hacer una buena traducción de ésto, se lo agradezco.
Mills Posted October 2, 2011 Author Report Posted October 2, 2011 Translation: The H 005 CG is closer to the gen than the N make. As far as I'm concerned, wait for the V2. All crystals Rep have this distortion because they are only mineral crystal quartz with a film on their surface that give the apparent hardness. Genuine crystals are built on the basis of corundum, sapphire high quality and transparency and with a minimum of distortion. If someone can do a good translation of this, I appreciate it. ----- But I thought the H and the Noob used sapphire crystal? The 5 definitely doesn't have such a clear crystal as my 288 and my gen watches.

Mills Posted October 3, 2011 Author Report Posted October 3, 2011 I went to the AD around the corner from my office today and looked at a 111N they had in stock. It had a similar distortion to the pictures above. Maybe not quite as severe but it's difficult to tell until I get my watch in hand to compare.
