ubiquitous Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 Looks great! I especially love those crown guards!
mikellem Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 Excellent job KKT.. I agree with Ubi, Guards look wonderful!
HauteHippie Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 That's a winner! It looks fantastic. You selling?
Heywood Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 Nice work KKS. That case is one of the most convincing I've seen. The rounded/eased edges look great!
HauteHippie Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 By the way, for the 1665 virgins like myself, could you describe what the problem with the MBW caseback is and what you did to fix it? Thanks.
RWG Technical Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 Wonderful post, so glad to see the results of your own hand workmanship. Great to be able to do the mods yourself, and see such good - no - great results... I like your innovative crystal press...whatever does the job. Wear it well. RG
kingkitesurf Posted October 24, 2006 Author Report Posted October 24, 2006 Thanks guys. Yeah my improvised crystal press has cost me $4,50 and works better than I had hoped for. The sewer plastic connection ring had an exact 32mm innerring and is extremely thick strong plastic. It even clicks on the metal crystal ring... Lucky shot (I wanted to cut a hole in wood first). The gen #39 really looks much better. I now will take on my DRSD and make the gen #39 superdome fit... Wonder how that will look... It looks as if the gen crystal magnifies a little better and has a deeper color spread... Just makes the watch so much more intense and realistic. I noticed it today since some people took a long stare at the watch... before they never did it so obvious. I think gen crystal is by far the mod with the biggest bang for the buck. The caseback engraving look fake out of the box. They are laseretched and black filled. To tight and clean... Getting rid of just the black paint leaves a straight engraving. You have to rough it up a little and repolish the caseback. Here is a pic of the standard caseback (right) and the redone one (left). Underneath you see a gen.
Guest avitt Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 I was going to mention that your caseback is one of the best features of the watch....Very nice work!
Tribal Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 ´Great work, looks damm good... It's a great idea to take a plastic spacer to pull down the retainingring.. I do it the same way... the caseback looks much better yet.. Fantastic work ,i love it.
x86uops Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 The 20mm lug holes, the gen crystal, and the vintaged bezel did make wonders ... congratulations for a very fine time piece.
