pman
My VP is in from out of town and he's got a Pam on. It looks like a 111h on a leather strap. I need a crash course on Pams. What do I need to know? Cool facts about Panerei? Thanks so much. Pman Edited October 25, 2006 by pman

sssurfer
9/12/1941 Frogmen of the Italian Navy penetrate the port of Alexandria in Egypt and cripple the British battleships HMS Valiant and Queen Elizabeth, along with a destroyer and a tanker. This means that Cunningham had lost all his battleships and could no longer muster a force strong enough to take on the Italian fleet. (http://www.worldwar-2.net/timelines/war-at-sea/mediterranean/mediterranean-index-1941.htm) Those frogmen were wearing PAMs on their wrists. Since then, PAMs are aknowledged for their readability in the worst situations and their thoughness. wan
First you should make sure to pronounce it right, because alot get it wrong..Panerai is pronounced Pan-er-I, or panr-eye.....Also,most hard core panerai collectors particularly like the pre-vendome models which were made before 1997. The pre-vendome watches which means panerai watches made from 1993 when they first made a series of models offered for the first time to the public, until 1997 when the Vendome luxury group acquired panerai and launched them to the international market....(since......the Vendome group has changed its name to the Richemont Group, which is a watch power house).........From the early 1900's until the 1980's Panerai made military watches exclusively for the Royal Italian Navy and in 1938 created the first military divers watch in history. Panerai also made watches for the Egyptian Navy for a bit in the mid 50's when they created the Radiomir series........If your VP is not aware of the un-official Panerai web site&fourm called Paneristi, its a must for enthusiasts..."but www.paneristi.com is ONLY a genuine watch site,no reps or rep talk allowed there"............If there is enough time between now and when he arrives. PM me with an adress and i will send you a cool strap for his pam111 you can give him.(free of charge) I literally have about 75 straps, all diffrent brands and styles so it really would be no bother. There are probably a dozen i never even tried on So if theres time just let me know..............Thanks,and i hope at least the info on Panerai helps...........wan
