Hi guys,

I'm no expert here so, what do you think of this relume job :

I'm mixed opinion especially on the 12 marker ...

It's a work in progress by Domi, our resident modder.

Thanks for summing it up. As a matter of fact I was very reluctant at criticizing the job of one of our resident modder here. I thought maybe it was a 2 stage process and it wasn't finished. Domi charges 100€ for this.

Now what can I do? Is it possible to clean it and fix it?

Thanks,

Y.

I really don't think you need any "expert" opinion on this one, you can easily judge for yourself the quality.

Too bad the camera wasn't set correctly so that it didn't over expose the lume, the details are not as visible as they could/should be...

Good luck sorting it out.

As PrDubis says...here is an example of my workmanship:

IF - the lume is genuine super luminova and was mixed correctly, it should be possible to scrape it off and not damage the dial. If the mixing was not correct or other binders were used, the lume may be hard like glass and not able to be removed.

The problem is the dial is damaged by spillage of lume onto it, you can see this in a few places, this can't be fixed.

Sorry for your troubles...

The dial is permanently damaged?!!

How is this possible to rave about Domi's work like I read many times on this forum? I just can't believe it!

Domi told me he used only TriTec Superluminova.

Is there someone who can talk to Domi in german, because dialog is quite hard with him in english ...

I just asked Domi to participate to this thread.

Thanks Zig, the job was done yesterday, does it change anything?

What is the best to do now to minimize the damage?

Anywhere that the lume has spilled off the markers and onto the dial surface is damage to the dial, there is no way to remove the lume and normally the lume will melt the dial paint (you can see spillage on a number of markers, the "2" in the number 12 in your photo).

Sadly, with my little knowledge on reluming work (zero, in fact), you'll need to procure a new dial, mate (and look elsewhere ;) )

I may be biased, but with great reason.... There is nobody I trust with reluming, except The Zigmeister. I'm sure others will concur.

Yes i would have sent the watch to Zigmeister too but the risk of customs is too high. I was just caught by french customs few days ago and have to pay a 300€ fine for another PAM.

I understand. Now that the dial is screwed, maybe you could check with your dealer whether another dial is available, and send only the dial to The Zigmeister for work? Just a suggestion.

just sent him an e-mail :

"Hey Domimaus - mach mal die 2 und 6 neu - sieht zum kotzen aus - thschuessi! "

im sure its an easy fix ...

Is it an insult? Google gives a strange translation here ... ^_^

Domi offered me to order a new dial to replace this one. I can't blame him for making an error.

He is still a trusted modder concerning mechanical job, isn't he?

Ordering just the dial from Hfactory sounds mission impossible to me...

I had many troubles with Domi and don't work with him anymore.

Trust one guy: Rob.

I feel very lucky and proud that he's ok to work on my watches.

And to be true, he doesn't charge big money for his awesome workmanship...

Definitely the only one for me.

This lume job is honestly not good at all! The Zigmeister could do

better with his eyes closed. I am glad this isn't my watch... ;)

Maybe domi was drinking. Honestly Domi should know better.

I hear he is a great watch maker. But looming, Yikes....

Good Luck,

MM

Z is not only the best Watch Maker in the Country,
He is one of the best lumers in the world. i don't
know if many you know that The Zigmeister's Avitar was
hand painted by Zig himself. Take a look at the
airplane, look at the detail. He is one hell of an
Artist. Thank God we have you Z!

Cheers Mate,
MM
