vlydog
would a bezel tension spring for a 1680 or a 5513 be compatible with a 1665? Thank you
Nanuq
Yes, all the same. Give it a few scientifically designed bends with your thumbs and fingers before you install it, to increase the spring tension between the retaining ring and bezel. Then you'll get the standard "push down to turn" behavior.

Nanuq
I'll check my parts box when I get home tonight, I might have an extra laying around.

praetor
lol. this. I had jmb bought me a tension ring from Clark for my 1665 from PT. He said it didn't fit and it was a pain in the ass for him to modify it to fit. Thank god I had him fit it.
ww12345
@praetor: Really? I installed a Clarks ring no problem. However, it is not as tight as I would like. Does yours give the "press to turn" feel now?
jmb
The diameter needed to be reduced a bit.
ww12345
@JMB: Hmmm... Want to take a look at my SD while it is over your way? Maybe that's why the bezel felt weird to rotate.
Nanuq
Vlydog, sorry but I looked and no joy... no extra tension rings. To get the "push to turn" behavior, take your mostly flat tension ring and give it some character: grab it at 3:00 and 9:00 and give it some bend. Rounded kinks, if you will. Then switch and do the same at 12:00 and 6:00. The higher the kinks, the harder it will be to push it down and turn. It will be a bearcat to fit correctly after this, but that's how to do it.
