Cats
I'm thinking of buying a 029M . One thing is still bothering me , the movements in the 029 seem to be of poor quality. Can the 2836-2 with GMT modd be swapped for a 2893-2 movement or are we getting a lot of trouble with the stem height. Or is the ETA 2836-2 reliable ?? Can some of the expert give me an advise. Thanks in advance. Cats
korneevy
No issues whatsoever with the Swiss one I have in my 029m had it inspected and serviced by a watchmaker and it runs to 2/3 secs per day. Not sure why bother with the swap as it will be a pain in the [censored] and require new case, new handset etc.
Cats
Thnxs komeevy , does your GMT hand jumps while setting it ?? And does it line up perfectly with the hours markers on the bezel ?? Carpe Diem Cats
korneevy
I would not say jump, it simply moves in 1 hr increments and you need ot hold the watch close to your ear to hear a click then it moves while setting...and yes it aligns well with the markers. Read my review of the dissected 029 to learn more about the guts of this really great rep..
mikellem
Kats, maybe you received a poor one and it should go back to the dealer? MM
mikellem
I had this problem with an 029 from the Eddie Lee era, and it was doing what sounds like yours is doing . I have to send to The Zigmeister for repair. Then it as fine. MM
Jurgenk
Don't worry about swap Just get it serviced when needed

RickHiC
My asian movt one runs a little fast but has one of the smoothest sweeps of any of my reps. No complaints here at all. If it ever dies (and I have a couple asian 2836 w/GMT reps around that are still running after a couple years), I'll just drop in another movement. No worries.
