klingsor
rolex has used simply engraved val 23 for some reference ..... one of these is the ref.3525 "Medical Chronograph" today a good valjoux cal. 23 can be taken for less than 500 rolex has not done any mods for this caliber in the ref 3525 (only the refinishing... ) to make this watch is needed only the brige (if you are an hardcore modder ...... ) and a kit for the case and dial.... does someone know if exists some kit for these very vintage chrono? could we stimulate someone to produce them? perhaps David (DW) can ask to produce this kit i will show under some example....taken from Antiqorum could be a very beatiful rep .... Chronus
Yep, the pushers are similar too. Basic layout is there. Did R*l*x make the mare nostrum for the P company ? I am not sure how old it is.

klingsor
I find that irritating too. i'm not irritated but... the intent of topic is speaking about val 23 and a possibility to do some "medical Chronograph" Ref 3525 i 'm wondered that a so easy possibility is not interesting to anyone.... it could be a new "franken" era ....ahahhahahaha

klingsor
There was a similar model Rep floating around for a while. Joshua still has it on his site: we are speaking about a val 23 ..... two compass ... the case is similar ...lugs very different...... i'm sure that this replica has a 7750china .... so the back case is "higher" ..... i think that to use this case will be not so simply... and finally will be not so similar
chrgod
This is from Silix, Lemania based... Maybe not a good base for a franken, but interesting to see how the replicamakers have performed in the field of Pre-Daytonas...

klingsor
In that case the Mare Nostrum is "inspired" by this perhaps ? as many others.... but why pam as a so important space in your mind? if it's enough to have two pushers and two compass to have inspired pam "Mare Nostrum " i think that was many inspirations .... and so Mare Nostrum is not so original designed..... i can understand you are in love with Mare Nostrum .... but if every time you see two pushers and two compass you remember Mare Nostrum it's time for you to buy it..... addingwatch
It is amazing how every topic gets made into a Pam topic. Anyways, your project idea can definitely be done. First you need a custom case. Rep cases are too big. Your watch is only supposed to be 35mm. Next, the val. 23, but remember the Rolex plate. The most important part, high quality dials for it are available on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-OYSTER-CHRONOGRA...VQQcmdZViewItem Buy the hands, crystal, put it together and you will have a beautiful watch. Or, you can just pay $28K for a real one. Regards.

Regards. at this point to have the val 23 is the easiest thing i think that a custom made case is a not simply to make... dial ...bridge...hands are on ebay ...sometime..... but a custom made case..... where i can find one to copy it? i could use one like model to do a rep made by gold.... with a fusion stamp... and a refinishing (?!?!?).... are your photo of one of yours watch ? i'm asking arround but no one have never seen a case for this reference..... it's a big problem..... but as i told before ...could be a new era of franken .... most of all the movement has not important modification by rolex ....only the brige to replace.... could be very interesting..... vlaletom
Those watch are beautiful. And as you said the V23 are widly avaulable and still on a decent budget. I olso think there is a nice little market for a good case & dial kit, i would jump in! Maybe if we are enough to ask for it, some of our trusted dealers could produce a batch. Some of our dealer did make custom watch for us in the past, if we are over 50 piece wouldn't it be possible to have some produced ?
