lfovco Posted January 31, 2012 Report Share Posted January 31, 2012 As I am shaking off my Panerai addiction that lasted last 7 years, I'm finally ready to move on and keep only one of them. Plus I have IWC Ingenieur SS rep and Genuine Omega. Since I am attracted to more high end brands in general like Jaeger, A. Lange, Glashutte and Patek, here are some choices I came up with within the rep world. My first and obvious choice is a Nautilus 5711-1A SS Blue Dial. I see that the most recent "1:1" version comes with the newer SW200-1 movement. I'm looking at this one here: http://www.puretimew...t-edition-sw200 I don't really have any questions as far this model, looks like a no brainer to me and I will be getting one. All my questions between the lines are about movements, I'm hoping to have them last as I keep watches for a long time. Another model that I am finding pretty attractive is this one: http://www.kuvarsitw...roduct_id=31135 JAEGER LE-COULTRE DUOMETRE RETROGRADE POWER RESERVE I would of course get it from one of our trusted dealers so I'm only posting this link due to pictures being much nicer then our dealers take. I know it is not accurate to the Gen at all, but I don't really care cause it looks really cool. I have a question about the movement, it says it is a Seagull that I'm guessing is pretty good? Could anyone please comment on that. Another one that I like is this one http://www.kuvarsitw...roduct_id=30953 that looks like a rep of A. Lange 1815, I know this one is also inaccurate, does not bother me. My question is again about the movement, if anyone could please comment. I read another users review on this one as well so outside of the movement I do not have any other questions. Two more that I'm liking quite a bit are: http://www.yourtrust...products_id=703 with Lemania/Venus Hand Wind Chronograph, is that a good movement? I'm guessing it is pretty decent. Another one that I think looks very elegant is this one: http://www.kuvarsitw...roduct_id=30325 Now it's all Turkish on this page but from what I can decipher it looks like a copy of Venus movement, 17 Jewels, 50 hours power reserve. Google translate is not doing to good of a job with that text. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. As a summary, I will definitely get the Nautilus and probably 2 out of other 4 later. I noticed on your shots a Glashütte Senator Sixties which is a model I really like, white dial with gold hands. I have not stumbled upon that rep yet. mbjoer Posted February 1, 2012 Report Share Posted February 1, 2012 A couple of those you suggest are from the top drawer of rep-mistakes. Initially very nice looking, but with flaws which everyone with no knowledge of watches can spot. The Lange has a list of rediculous mistakes on the back. "Made in Switzerland", "IWC" and spelling mistake in 33 (that may not be too obvious if you are ignorant about German). The Patek has the opposite. On the dial it says "Made in Germany". If you want a really accurate rep, consider a sportier watch rep. That AD has an insane selection, tried on several models from Jaeger, Glashutte, A. Lange, Anonimo, IWC, even less expensive Maurice Lecroix was pretty nice. Jaeger is still my favorite, Master Compressor series is way too nice and Master Chronograph 2 is just beautiful. And the 46mm JLC Master Compressor Extreme with Alarm just looks and feels insane!!! One watch that I have never seen before did also catch my attention: Maurice Lecroix Pontos Decentrique Phases de Lune http://www.horozima.com/2010/12/maurice-lacroix-pontos-decentrique.html 43mm, quite thick, choice of white and black dial, 7750 movt. heavily modified, sale price $3900....
