klocklind1 Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 I saw some intresting pictures of a 1680 sub on the net and it has a new Rolex replacement-case see pictures! Look at the CG on it how it looks like when it is NEW and not polished So !!!! It looks a lot more fat than the "a lot of times polished CG style" CG:s! I was thinking that I would shave just the inside of the CG on my brand new MBW 1680 sub and it would look quite good compared to the genuine, not so overpolished CG! What is the experts opinion about that ?
highoeyazmuhudee Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 a lot of older ones are like this as well. some are worn away from polishing, some are just different shapes to begin. ive done some MBK cases this way

highoeyazmuhudee Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 just the inside on this particular case, i have done the outside on a couple of cases tho the crowns just sitting in there with no tube:
freddy333 Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 Are you aware that, in most cases, 'replacement' case = aftermarket case? So I would check out some gen forums before using this case as a guide.
DeeKa Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 Not neccesarily as also Rolex still provides replacement cases which have a different serial number range... Dee

So I would check out some gen forums before using this case as a guide. This sub was for sale on the bay a week ago and it had the serial number starting with 4444.... and the seller said it was a replacement case. I will show a picture of the serialnumber tomorrow
DeeKa Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 44 is default Rolex replacement case number range! So most probably a gen replacement case... Dee
freddy333 Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 Buy the seller before you buy the watch.
manuel Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 Buy the seller first...that's whats all about!
danielv2000 Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 44 is default Rolex replacement case number range! So most probably a gen replacement case... Dee Why don't we engrave all our cases with a 44xxxxx number!
