Jkay
A chrono watch is a complicated piece of micro-machinery, and I always say the people who buy one as their very first replica are taking a big gamble. It's like buying a used Aston Martin as your first car. Maybe it's perfect and maybe it needs $6k of service. The juddering of the chrono seconds hand is symptomatic of the breed; don't worry about it. During your first service it can be dealt with. Hopefully you can go a few years but probably not, and then it's off to the service technician. After that you are good for another several years. Enjoy it. *Aero*
Thanks for the advice Jkay - I won't be worrying about that then, I was just a bit curious you know. I've never owned a mechanical watch so I'm a stranger to how these things move, even though a read a lot (thanks to this forum), when you have the real thing before your eyes and see it working, you don't know what's functioning normal and what's not! I don't think I'll service it yet, but I'll check if there's anyone which services/repairs these watches locally.
Jkay
The 7750 needs a specialist. Don't give it to anyone who doesn't know chronometers specifically.
*Aero*
Hmm... and I'd take it that if one can work on an ETA 7750, one can also work on an asian 7750 as they are similar no? I'll ask around specifically for ETA 7750 service, someone who knows what he's doing then... hope I find someone on the island, else I'll have to start studying the movement and become the specialist! Jkay
No; there are good, trusted technicians in the EU who can do this with no problem.

slask111
Welcome to the forum. Great thread, love that you actually post pictures. i really like the AR on that watch. As Jkay says there are good technicians in Eu that can help you out. I have had my A750 serviced by Domi and im wery happy with the service. Now go order a PAM
*Aero*
Thanks slask, will keep this in mind when I come to servicing it...but I think I'll let it run for a couple of years before I give it a service - as long as its runs without any issues. Just a curiosity, is it normal that you can hear the rotor spinning on an automatic watch? I've noticed this sound while moving my hand and its quite "noticeable". Now go order a PAM That's in my shortlist , but cant make up my mind! Looking for a square-ish watch with a leather strap now The ones I'm looking at are these: Zenith Grande Port-Royal Open Tag Heuer Monaco 24 Panerai 1950 Flyback Chrono PAM212 Edited April 24, 2012 by *Aero*
*Aero*
Time has come for the first service I guess...came a bit sooner than I had hoped for tho It has suddenly stopped working while wearing it - for me it looks fine, I mean all hands move freely, rotor turns etc, but it wont move... Any ideas what I can do to get it going again, I can post some photos of the movement if that could help with identifying the problem......or else can someone direct me to where I can get it serviced - ideally somwhere in the EU as I'm from Malta

Jkay
Wow crapped out in what 8 weeks, that s**ks . Maybe try the dealer may be willing to fix, as it died so quickly. While many people will chime in here to say "I have had my rep 7750 for 15 years and never even wound it once and it makes me breakfast" and other crap, the sad fact is that this is a very complicated piece of machinery, and it comes from the Asian factories dirty and poorly oiled. You must factor in the cost of a full service when you see the cost of the 7750 watch on the web site. Why would you throw your money away on a watch that needs service by NOT servicing it? Now the OP has a very expensive wristband shaped like a watch.
*Aero*
Yeah I had hoped it would keep on ticking for at least a couple of years but its clear I had hoped for too much! I'm not complaining about anything as I was aware that at some point I would have to get it serviced - the thing is where? I don't know of any local watch repairer who services these watches, I'll ask the lad I usually take my watches to if he can take a look at it, maybe he had serviced ETA 7750 before, no harm in asking as otherwise I dont know what I can do other than use it as "a very expensive wristband shaped like a watch." like Jkay said! Jkay
If I may suggest: people in the EU are not offering names of good watch makers for 7750 because you have asked for help in a "hello" topic. If you make a new topic titled "help with 7750 repair in EU" I am sure many people will offer names.
*Aero*
Well actually I opened a new topic in the watch repair section with this topic name: ''Grand Carrera Calibre 36 stopped working'' But I got no replies so I continued to post on this one...Dont know if I can change the topic now! don't want to open too much topics on the same thing.... Jkay
Ok then I will help you: Im not in the EU but there is a famous watch repair guy / modder in Germany. His name is Domenico - His contact email is wilerwetta@googlemail.com
*Aero*
Thanks Jkay, much appreciated. From what I read about Domenico its better to communicate in Italian or German rather than English right? There's a lot of positive feedback about him - will send him a mail and see if he can help me out. Thanks again Jkay
