Hi guys,

Wanted your advice on which of these I should get.

I have never bought an asian movement before so wanted to know how reliable and well replicated is the 3717 chrono:

If not, I'll go with the mark xvi, a swiss movement.

thanks for the input

The XVI with the swiss movement is the bad version. The minute hand is too short, case is too thick, and crown is much too big. The newer correct XVI has an asian movement also, so take that into consideration.

Have you considered a Concepta's gen parts used to build a 3717? I saw a gen at the Dubai airport, but sadly it was $5k. Concepta uses gen parts to build his 3717 and it is around $2k. Not sure how far you want to go with the watch.

Ademarco, I mostly wear Cartier and so I thought I might give something else a try. I'll see how a relatively cheap (upto 350 usd) IWC goes and if I like it, I might opt for an expensive version as you suggest.

Go with the 3717. The A7750 movements are fine.

The v3 (current version) is a very good rep out of the box, and a couple of small mods makes it great. Plenty of threads/support on modding them.

Plus, as ademarco said, there are a couple of sources for gen parts if you want to go that far.

Cool. I went with the 3717 in the end on a bracelet. Yeh I was thinking of getting the standard mods, like the lume, eta date wheel, maybe even a swiss moement and anything anyone else suggests. How much do these mods cost including parts and labour?

you will be around $250-$300 for datwheels, lume and AR for the crystal (including labor). And you'll end up looking somewhat like this ...

All i can see is the 9 hour marker being a bit low like you said. the 3 hour marker looks fine in the third picture but at a bit of an angle in the fourth picture. Hard to tell on that one, because the watch is tilted.
