modelizer Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 That's one lovely diver you got there mate..
Logan Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 I'm going to say the middle one.. but only because I've never seen a rep of that.. otherwise it would be pretty tough to tell.
chrgod Posted April 13, 2012 Author Report Posted April 13, 2012 Yes, that is correct. There has never been a good replica of the previous Aquatimer, so I had to get the gen. When new, in 2006, it was about the same price as a Submariner. On the current seconds hand market, it is about 1500 USD cheaper.. I assume it is partly due to the IWC-movement being based on ETA 2892. Still, I find the modern style of the Aquatimer more interesting then the Sub. I like the two-crown style, the flatter case and the fact that IWC is a less known brand. The Ingenieur on the comparison picture has a well-worn Chieftang AR, while the Mark XVI has a brand new AR-coating by Domi.
gran Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 The two-crown style is a winner. I would imagine you like the LONGINES "compressor" as well?

gimme Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 Nice Aquatimer! That Ingy rep is so well made. One of my favorite watches.
dluddy Posted April 14, 2012 Report Posted April 14, 2012 Love it. It is a beautiful diver and I would also take it over a modern Sub any day of the week
FxrAndy Posted April 14, 2012 Report Posted April 14, 2012 Should not be to difficult.. Is that Green AR on the Mk XVI??? is he using normal optitions AR like on eye glasses? i would be interesting how that holds up over tiime
chrgod Posted April 14, 2012 Author Report Posted April 14, 2012 Is that Green AR on the Mk XVI??? is he using normal optitions AR like on eye glasses? i would be interesting how that holds up over tiime I recon the XVI has a colorless AR. I am a noob when it comes to AR, but this tint of this coating reminds me of the one on the most recent "colorless" Panerais. The reflections seems to be even less. I like it. "The two-crown style is a winner. I would imagine you like the LONGINES "compressor" as well?" Yes, the Longines Compressor is a nice piece, buty I would have missed the date. For IWC, it is the Vintage Aquatimer, which carry on the two-crown style for IWC.
spooky driver Posted April 14, 2012 Report Posted April 14, 2012 I miss mine WOW i is sure you are..... it in one cool watch.
spooky driver Posted April 14, 2012 Report Posted April 14, 2012 what is the IWC code for your aquatimer?
