One Impressive Diver... the ETERNA Kon-Tiki 1000M

Got lucky today meeting up briefly with a member. After we finished discussing what he wanted me to work on, I asked if I could try on the diver he was wearing. Long story short, he loaned it to me for a week or 2 to wear. Thank you sir!

The after-market Maratac strap is perfect with this watch and comfortable. On-sale here...

Specs for the watch grabbed from another site...

*Brushed stainless steel case-housing, hinged case with push-button release

*Functions may only be adjusted in the open position thus protecting the bi-directional rotating bezel for the Dive time and crown against accidental damage

*Black dial with Arabic numerals and highly luminous hands / hour markers for easy visibility in dark waters

*Power Reserve indicator at 4 o’clock

*Date aperture at ‘7:30’

*Anti-reflective scratch proof sapphire crystal

*Black rubber strap with deployant hidden folding clasp and diver’s extension

Excellent review here... http://forums.watchuseek.com/f67/lit...er-341254.html

Eterna founded ETA and then sold it to the Swatch Group. Also, the 5 little dots logo under the "12" on the dial represent the 5 ball-bearings used in their auto movement rotor.

Here are some quick phone pics to try and show the impressive attention to fit and finish of this great watch.

Isn't it a pity that a lovely watch like this ( RRP $9500) is so heavily discounted-

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Eterna-KonTiki-Diver-Automatic-Power-Reserve-1000-Meter-/130582430756?_trksid=e17002.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8124485547631456268

There are a few sellers with them at around $7.5 k, which is sorta reasonable...meaning a used one would hover around $4k maybe a touch more.

So throw a new one into the mix at this sort of money, and see then what your used watch is worth.

Pity the poor bastard who paid retail!

I've seen them in forum classifieds as low as $2500. A lot of watch and engineering for the money.

Is this watch a rep or a gen?

This is gen. Rep of the Porsche version is the only one made I believe.
