sardonix
Don't know if it was listed here in the past. But it is a nice list: http://minus4plus6.com/PriceEvolution.htm
freddy333
If the prices are accurate, this is a very useful guide. Thanks for the post.
panerai153
Indeed this is pretty handy. What is amazing the prices from 1957 to 1970 hardly budged, and then that started the march up almost on a yearly basis.

panerai153
Freddy, you are right my friend, I have been a dues paying contributor to the "Great" Society for a long long time. We who are productive producers have to pay for our ticket, plus the free tickets for the consuming non producers, of which I'm surrounded every day! atomic_doug
The price hikes remind me of a (probably apocryphal) story of Colin Chapman, the father of Lotus cars. He would take a car and to make it faster, would "add lightness". He started removing parts from the car and when it collapsed under its own weight, would then put that part back, satisfied the car was as light as it could be. Rolex is the same way: they will keep raising prices year after year until someday people will just refuse to buy them...
panerai153
Unfortunately, Rolex will always be in demand, even though their buying pool may shrink because of the higher prices. What they have done is a marketing ploy, along with every other "luxury" brand. What they convey to the public is with a Rolex on your wrist, you are somebody, you have arrived. The lack of one conveys the connotation that your ship has not come in and in fact is probably out at sea leaking and about to sink. That's why Rolex spends millions on advertising, almost all of it promoting upscale sports like Polo, Auto Racing (and not NASCAR!!), Yachting, etc. All of this in slick glossy magazines that appeal to us wannabes who are trying to elbow our way to the Champagne and Canapes! Cromag
Great list! Thanks Sardonix! Trying to put it in perspective, I think they have not gone up without good reasons. For instance the date just has new bracelet with solid gold, instead of hollow gold, links. I think with the internet and globalization, the rep market has grown so they have had to keep adding lots of features to deter copying. Not to mention the price of precious metals or commodities and the FOREX exchange rates. YMMV
Member X
There are some ridiculous price rises in there. Check out the DSSD. Did it really need to go up 33% in 5 years? I don't think so...
