dan_189
Could your gasket be causing problems? Which gasket? The one under the crystal retainer? Also guys quick question, if I was to retap the hole, what kind of tap should I be using a bottoming, plug or tapper? Ive read the size is M3 x 0.35 but which kind of tap to use: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:TapTypes.gif All the watch parts stores look like they have the "plug" style taps. Thanks
alligoat
Plug style is what you want. Jules Borel or Ofrei have them, or you can find them at machine shop supply stores for $8-10. Google is your friend.
irolexu
I would make sure your gaskets are good in the bezel area cause if its to thick it will plug things up

dan_189
Guys, round 2... Does this look right? Its a gen tube, does it sit close enough to the case? Should that collar on the tube be recessed in the case? Ive misplaced my gen crown somewhere so I cant test it! It will come up soon enough Edited November 22, 2012 by dan_189
fidhle007
With a modern monoblock crown (which would be correct for this build) that should be perfect. Nice work!
rsh
Dan the tube looks perfect there buddy !

fidhle007
You did seal it in there, right? On my lughole build I swapped tubes and forgot to O-ring and/or seal the tube in place the second time I installed it. It fogged up in the shower and I knew I was screwed, I ended up replacing the movement after that just for peace of mind. Those of us with Sean cases don't have the luxury of using an O-ring between the tube and the case but you can still seal it in with epoxy for the same effect. dan_189
I was actually able to use the O ring between the case and the tube so I used all 4 gen O rings, one between the case and tube, one on the outside of the tube and two internally I dont think im gong to take it near water
the_rymeister
Nice build dan, great parts list look forward to seeing the end result
ck5533
dan, how did you go with the bezel? I had the same prob. Then I removed the bezel and bent the click spring upward toward you lightly.
dan_189
Thanks guys as for the bezel I took it to somewhere to have a new crystal retainer put on and immeaditly the guys was like you have an aftermarket bezel! Grrrr ill put up some pics to see what you guys think
irolexu
What do they know about your build in general?
dan_189
What do they know about your build in general? Nothing, other than the case is aftermarket and the bezel wouldn't turn with the crystal retainer I had.
dan_189
Guys this is the bezel in question, was purchased from VRF... It does fit a genuine bezel insert
fidhle007
That looks like a Sean bezel... Can you compare the two?
dan_189
That looks like a Sean bezel... Can you compare the two? Ill put up some pics of them side by side, the main difference between this "gen" one and the Sean is that the Sean is slightly thicker and its not polished underneath like this one is. The bottom lip is actually polished and reflective/chrome where as the sean on that lip is dull. The other difference is the inner teeth on this bezel are quite a consistent shape where as the Sean are quite varied and not as good quality. Does it look like a WM9?? What size is a WM9? dan_189
Sean and gen I think its the variations in the years and hence mine looked different to the one he had as mines newer
dan_189
Sean is on the left BTW
dan_189
Okay so changed the crystal retainer bezel still doesn't fit grrrr! Changed the tube and the crown still doesn't sit flush! Both the crown and bezel came from the same buyer... Something is not right
dan_189
Here is the crown still doesnt sit flush, the guy who pressed the crystal said it was aftermarket?? Could the stem be too long as it was a new stem??
dan_189
BUMP Anyone? The Sean case doesnt fit a genuine tube correctly! I tried screwing it in a tiny bit more and it broke off... Im going to have to marine epoxy a Noob tube that RSH sent me, anyone have an experience in that?
fidhle007
You should have kept the Sean tube, it fits a gen crown. Every aftermarket tube I've used has worked fine so it's strange that yours didn't work. Sorry you're having so much trouble, man!
